Game Boxscore

Hamilton, N.Y. - The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team picked up three points on the weekend after a 4-1 win at Colgate Saturday night behind a 30-save performance from Nick Boucher and a balanced scoring attack with four different goal scorers on the night including three unassisted goals.

Dartmouth battled to a 1-1 tie at Cornell on Friday and completed a regular-season series sweep against the Red Raiders with a 3-2 win in Hanover and tonight's victory.

Dartmouth (12-10-3, 9-6-3 ECAC) is now tied with Harvard for fourth in the ECAC after Harvard posted a 4-1 win against visiting St. Lawrence, while despite the loss Colgate (9-17-4, 7-10-1) remains tied with Union for 10th after the Skating Dutchmen fell at home to Princeton 7-2.

Despite being outshot 30-17 on the night, Dartmouth made the most of its opportunities and took the 1-0 lead near the end of the first period when Michael Byrne (Hingham, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal at 18:45. Byrne carried the puck into the Colgate zone and ripped a shot that deflected off starting goaltender David Cann's blocker and in the net.

The Big Green, who are unbeaten in their last four games, took a 2-0 advantage 2:05 into the second period on another unassisted marker from Chris Baldwin (Glastonbury, Conn.) his 10th of the year. He carried the puck from the blueline, deked and put it in the top left corner.

Dartmouth built a comfortable 3-0 cushion just over two minutes later when P.J. Martin (Haverhill, Mass.) scored a power-play goal to Cann's five-hole from Frank Nardella (Melrose Park, Ill.) and Jamie Herrington (Cornwall, Ont.).

Colgate narrowed the gap to 3-1 after two periods when Ben Bryce (Carleton Place, Ont.) recorded his first goal of the year on a rebound of a Kevin Johns (Almonte, Ont.) shot. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Red Raiders.

Halsey Coughlin (Lincoln, Mass.) scored Dartmouth's third unassisted goal of the night when he skated in and cut acrossed the high slot and backhanded to Cann's five-hole.

Jason Lefevre (Rome, N.Y.) relieved Cann making his first appearance in the last seven games since he lost to St. Lawrence 4-0 on Jan. 26.

Dartmouth remains on the road next weekend at Princeton and Yale on Feb. 23-24 at 7 p.m., while Colgate travels to the North Country to face Clarkson and St. Lawrence next Friday and Saturday, with face-offs at 7 p.m. The St. Lawrence game will be televised live on the ECAC/Empire Sports Game of the Week.
