SYRACUSE ROLLS OVER
COLGATE, 98-68
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Carmelo Anthony scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lift Syracuse to a 98-68 win over Colgate Tuesday night at the Carrier Dome. The Orangemen (2-1) had four other players in double figures including Kueth Duany with 21, Hakim Warrick with 15, Gerry McNamara 14 and Jeremy McNeil 12. Colgate (2-3) was led by Howard Blue and Andrew Zidar with 11 points apiece and Dave Hardy with 10. Syracuse opened a 14-point lead in the first half, before the Raiders battled back to tie the game 44-44 on a 3-pointer by Tim Sullivan with 2:58 remaining. Colgate then took its only lead of the game on a basket by Zidar, 46-44, before the Orangemen closed with a 10-1 run for a 54-47 halftime lead. In the second half, Syracuse had a 56-53 lead with 17:02 left before going on a 13-2 run to open a 14-point advantage and never looked back. Zidar was Colgate’s leading rebounder with seven while Blue grabbed six caroms. GAME NOTES - Sullivan moved into sixth place in career 3-pointers made with 93. He was 3-of-7 against the Orangemen ...
