POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Steve Pettyjohn’s 3-pointer with 37 seconds left lifted Eastern Michigan to a 66-65 win over Colgate in the consolation game of the Pepsi-Marist Classic.

The Raiders (0-2) were led by sophomore forward Andrew Zidar with a career-high 22 points and eight rebounds and junior guard Mark Linebaugh with 14 points.

Eastern Michigan tied the game at 63-63 with 1:25 left on Ryan Prillman’s dunk, but Colgate came back on a layup by Zidar with 44 seconds remaining for a two-point lead.  The Eagles came down a Pettyjohn hit a long range 3-pointer to put EMU ahead by one, 66-65.

The Raiders, who led at halftime, 35-31, had one final chance to win the contest but couldn’t get a shot off with 5.9 seconds remaining.

Keith Williams scored nine points for the Raiders, while Dave Hardy eight points and Alvin Reed seven points.

Colgate opens its home season on Tuesday, Nov. 26 against Cornell at Cotterell Court.  Tip-off is 7 p.m.
