REGAN NAMED ASSISTANT
MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate University head men’s basketball coach Emmett Davis has announced the appointment of Brian Regan to the position of assistant coach. Regan, who was an assistant coach at Assumption College for the past three seasons, replaces Dennis Csensits who earlier was named head coach at Dickinson College. “I am very excited that Brian has decided to join our staff,” said Davis, who is in his fifth season with the Raiders. “I first met Brian back in 1988 when he was a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh under my former coach Paul Evans. Since then he has been a full-time assistant at both Division I and Division II scholarship schools. He has developed into an outstanding recruiter and coach, and brings with him a reputation as a tireless worker and an excellent teacher.” While serving as associate head coach at Assumption College under Tom Ackerman, Regan helped the Greyhounds reach the 24-win plateau last season while winning the Northeast 10 championship and a trip to the Division II NCAA Tournament’s “Sweet Sixteen.” Prior to his coaching experience at Assumption, Regan served as an assistant coach at Slippery Rock University (1994-1999), La Roche College (1993-94) and Robert Morris College (1990-93). He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh (1988-90). During his tenure at Robert Morris, the Colonials won the Northeast Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1992, and while at Pittsburgh, the Panthers appeared in the 1989 NCAA Tournament. Regan is a 1988 graduate of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Penn., where he earned a degree in communications. |
