COLGATE SWEEPS SEASON SERIES FROM NAVY WITH A 73-52 WIN HAMILTON, N.Y. - Mark Linebaugh tallied 19 points and moved into fifth place on the school’s all-time list for 3-pointers made to lead Colgate to a 73-52 win over Navy Friday night in a Patriot League at Cotterell Court. Colgate (11-13, PL 6-5) sweeps the regular season series against Navy (6-18, PL 2-9) for the first time since the 1992-93 season. The Raiders have defeated Navy three straight times. With the victory, Colgate moves into a tie with Bucknell for fourth place in the standings. Linebaugh tallied two 3-pointers to give him 113 in his career for fifth place. Other Colgate players in double figures were Dave Hardy with 15 points and Howard Blue with 14. Navy was paced by Francis Ebong with 17 points and 10 rebounds. With the tied 4-4, Colgate went on a 14-3 run to open an 11-point advantage, 18-7, with 11:07 remaining in the half. Colgate increased its lead to 12 on two occasions before settling for a 36-28 halftime lead. In the second half, Navy cut the Colgate lead to four points, 42-38, with 12:52 left, but that would be as close as the Mids would get. Colgate shot 48 percent from the field, while Navy hit at a 42 percent rate. The Mids outrebounded Colgate 37-27 but Colgate hit on 6-of-13 3-pointers while Navy made only 1-of-11. Colgate’s leading rebounders were Blue and Andrew Zidar with five each.
