COLGATE ATTEMPTS TO SNAP TWO-GAME LOSING STREAK AT ARMY ON SATURDAY

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Colgate Raiders (9-13, PL 4-5) will attempt to halt a two-game losing skid, when they travel to Army (5-16, PL 0-9) for a Patriot League game on Saturday.  Tip-off is 3:15 p.m. at the Christl Arena.

The Raiders have suffered two heart-breaking setbacks in their last two games, losing on the road at Lafayette, 60-56, and then dropping a 92-91 overtime decision to league-leader Holy Cross at home on Wednesday night.

The Cadets, meanwhile, will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak and pick up their first Patriot League win of the season.  They lost to Lafayette 57-43 on Wednesday night.

Colgate comes into Saturday’s contest with a six-game winning streak over the Cadets, including an 86-58 win on Jan. 18 at Cotterell Court.  The Raiders have won their last two trips to Christl Arena.

This is the 92nd meeting between Colgate and Army with the Cadets leading the overall series, 48-43.

Colgate forward Mark Linebaugh had one of the finest performances by a Patriot League player this season on Wednesday night against Holy Cross.  The junior from Cleona, PA. scored 35 points including the first eight in overtime to record the most points by a Patriot League player this season.  It was the most points by a Colgate player since the 1996-97 season when Adonal Foyle tallied 37 against Siena.

Linebaugh, who passed the 900 career point mark, connected on 13-of-23 field goal attempts, including 5-of-7 from behind the arc.  His two free throws with 4.5 seconds remaining in regulation sent the contest into overtime.

He comes into the Army game needing 13 points for 23rd place on the school’s all-time scoring list.

Senior point-guard Dave Hardy will be looking to become only the second player in school history to record 100 assists in a season for a second time.  He enters the Army game with 99 assists.  He had 109 during the 2000-01 campaign.
