COLGATE ROLLS TO A 92-51 WIN OVER HARTWICK HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior Howard Blue scored a season-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Colgate to a 92-51 win over Hartwick Monday night at Cotterell Court. Colgate (4-6) snapped a three-game losing streak, while Hartwick falls to 4-2 in the first meeting between these two schools since the 1972-73 season. The Raiders lead the overall series, 7-1. Freshman Alvin Reed and senior Dave Hardy were also in double figures for the Raiders with 11 points, apiece. David Orr led Hartwick with 17 points, while Joel Blackwell had six points and nine rebounds. Colgate trailed in the first half, 7-5, before scoring 10 straight points to take control of the contest. Blue and Reed each hit a 3-pointer to start the decisive run before Hardy and Tim Sullivan each had a layup to finish the run. The Raiders extended their lead to 27 points in the first half, before settling for a 48-23 halftime lead. Colgate led by as many as 44 points in the second half as 14 players got into the scoring column. Chris Fox added a career-high eight points off the bench for the Raiders. Colgate shot 57 percent from the field, while Hartwick managed only 34 percent. The Raiders outrebounded the Hawks, 38-35. GAME NOTES: Colgate played without starting forward Andrew Zidar, who was home in Florida attending to a family matter … Junior Josh Humphrey saw his first action of the season after missing the first nine games with a stress fracture. He had two points, two rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes. |
