Campoleita Named First Team
All-Patriot League; Williams Named To All-Rookie Team
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate University senior forward Pat Campolieta becomes the first player in Patriot League history to be named four years to the all-league team as voted upon by the coaches. For the third straight season, Campolieta earned first team all-league honors after being named second team in his rookie season. He was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year in 1999. Campolieta is Colgate’s leading scorer heading into the Patriot League Tournament, which begins today at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The Raiders are scheduled to play Lafayette College in the quarterfinal round at 2:30 p.m. He is averaging 14.9 points per game and grabbed a personal season best 7.2 caroms per outing. He ranks as Colgate’s fourth all-time scorer with 1,606 points, sixth in rebounding with 691, first in steals with 191 and fifth in assists with 245. Campolieta is only the sixth player in the history of the league to earn first team honors three years and was selected the Patriot League Player of the Week twice this season. First-year Keith Williams, a 6-foot-4 forward from Harlem, N.Y., was named to the all-rookie team. In his first season with the Raiders, he was the Patriot League Rookie of the Week once after scoring the game-winning basket in an upset victory over Holy Cross. He has played in 21 games for the Raiders averaging 3.l points per game and 1.7 rebounds. He tallied a season-high 10 points against regular season champion American University and had a season-high six rebounds in a win over Lehigh. Williams is the sixth player in Colgate history to be named to the Patriot League all-Rookie team. Campolieta was joined on the all-league team by Patrick Doctor of American University, who was the Player of the Year; Bryan Bailey of Bucknell; Brian Burke of Lafayette; Boakai Lalugba of Bucknell; and Tim Szatko of Holy Cross. The second team selections were Jehiel Lewis of Navy; Matt Logie of Lehigh; Chris Spatola of Army; Glenn Stokes of American; and Charles Woodruff of Army. The all-rookie team consisted of Williams; Kenny Grant of Lafayette; Eric Heil of Lehigh; Nate Lufkin of Holy Cross; and Chris Niesz of Bucknell. Lufkin was named Patriot League Rookie of the Year and Army's Pat Harris was named Coach of the Year. |
