Colgate Puts Three-Game Win Streak On The Line; Raiders Travel To Bucknell For Key PL Game

(Complete Release In PDF Format)

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Colgate University basketball team (15-9 overall, 6-5 Patriot League) will attempt to extend its winning streak, when the Raiders travel to Lewisburg, Penn. on Saturday for a Patriot League battle with the Bucknell Bison (10-14, 6-5).  Tip-off is 3:15 p.m. at Davis Gym.

The Raiders have won three straight and six of their last seven games to jump into a three-way tie for third place in the Patriot League standings with Bucknell and Lafayette.  Bucknell had a two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night by league-leader American University.

With only three games left in the regular season every game is almost a must win situation in the battle for a top seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on March 2-3.  The winner of the Patriot League Championship on March 8 will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

This is the 76th meeting between Colgate and Bucknell with the Bison leading the overall series, 40-36.  Earlier this season, the Bison defeated Colgate, 80-75, at Cotterell Court.  Bucknell has won three straight against the Raiders including three straight at Davis Gym.  Saturday’s game will be the final game played in historic Davis Gym with Bucknell’s new facility opening next season.  (continued on next page)

Senior Pat Campolieta, the first player in school history to rank in the Top 10 in career scoring (1,562), rebounding (660), assists (235) and steals (178), continues to lead Colgate in scoring and rebounding.  He is averaging 15.0 points per game and 6.8 caroms per outing, which is good for fourth place in Patriot League scoring and second in rebounding.

Campolieta is currently fifth in career scoring and eighth in rebounding for the Raiders.  He needs 30 points to move into fourth place in scoring.

Sophomore Mark Linebaugh, one of the hottest scorers in the league over the past two weeks, is second in scoring with 13.3 points.  He has been in double figures in nine straight games.  Howard Blue is third with 10.7 points per game, followed by Tim Sullivan with 8.5 ppg and Dave Hardy 8.3 ppg.
