Colgate Rolls Over Army,
82-72
HAMILTON,
N.Y.-- Mark Linebaugh equaled
a career-high 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Colgate downed Army,
82-72, Wednesday night in a Patriot League game at Cotterell Court.
The
Raiders (12-8, PL 3-4) extended their winning streak to four straight over
the Cadets (9-11, 3-4), who have suffered 15 straight losses on
Colgate’s home court. Pat
Campolieta recorded his fifth double-double of the season netting 17
points and grabbing 12 rebounds. En
route to the double-double he moved into fifth place in career scoring
with 1,518 points and eighth place in rebounding with 641. Howard
Blue added 16 points for Colgate. Charles
Woodruff paced the Knights with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Chris
Spatola chipped in 19. Army
led the Raiders in the first half, 23-22, before Colgate put together a
six-point spurt and never looked back.
The Raiders extended their lead to as many as 12 before settling
for a 46-37 halftime advantage. In
the second half, the closest Army came was seven points, 77-70, with 50
seconds left. Colgate
shot a blistering 55 percent from the field (27-of-49), while Army made 46
percent on 28-of-60. The
Raiders dominated the glass outrebounding Army 38-24. GAME NOTES – Campolieta started his school record 102nd game breaking the old mark held by Hasan Brown (1990-94) … Linebaugh is the first Colgate player this season to post back-to-back 20-plus games. He had 21 against Binghamton on Monday … Campolieta’s double-double was the 13th of his career … Junior guard Tim Sullivan didn’t play. He suffered a sprained ankle on Monday against Binghamton … Colgate finished the first half of the Patriot League schedule tied for sixth place in the standings – just one game out of second place and two behind league leader American University … Linebaugh’s 27 points was the most by a Colgate player since he tossed in 27 against Lehigh last season. |
