Colgate (9-7, PL 1-3) Plays
Host To Bucknell; Raiders Looking To Rebound From Tough Loss (Complete Release In PDF Format) HAMILTON, N.Y. - A frustrated Colgate men’s basketball team (9-7, PL 1-3) will be looking to rebound from a tough overtime loss against Navy, when the Raiders play host to Bucknell (6-11, PL 2-2) Wednesday at Cotterell Court. Tip-off is 7:45 p.m. Colgate’s frustration comes from the fact that it has won only one of its first four Patriot League games after posting a respectable 8-4 mark prior to the start of league play. Equally frustrating is the fact that the Raiders held a six-point and eight-point lead in two of their league losses with under five minutes remaining. Bucknell is one game ahead of the Raiders in the standings after splitting its first four league games. The Bison have defeated Lafayette and Army, while losing to American and Navy. This is the 76th meeting between Colgate and Bucknell with the Bison leading the overall series, 39-36. Last season, these two opponents split their regular season home-and-home series with Colgate taking a 63-62 decision at Cotterell Court and Bucknell winning 71-60 at Lewisburg. The Bison then upset the Raiders in the opening round of the Patriot League Tournament with a 75-68 win. Navy’s victory over Colgate last Saturday afternoon was the second straight season that the Midshipmen had sailed into Cotterell Court and stolen an overtime win. Colgate was led by Pat Campolieta with 23 points and Tim Sullivan with a season-high 22 points. The Raiders had all five starters in double figures. Campolieta leads the Raiders in scoring with 15.8 points per game and rebounding with 6.8 caroms per outing. Campolieta ranks third in scoring and fourth in rebounding in the Patriot League. He needs 11 rebounds to become only the fourth player in school history to be ranked among the Top 10 all-time leaders in scoring and rebounding. He has scored 1,456 points and grabbed 605 rebounds in 101 games for the Raiders. Howard Blue is second in scoring with 11.8 points per game, while Mark Linebaugh is third with 11.4 points per game. Sullivan is averaging 9.8 ppg and Dave Hardy 8.9 ppg. Bucknell is led by junior forward Boakai Lalugba, who is averaging a team-high 15.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per outing, and senior guard Bryan Bailey with 15.3 points per game, who has missed the last six games with a knee injury. |
