COLGATE TOPS YALE, 87-75
December 3, 2001 HAMILTON, N.Y.— Senior Pat Campolieta’s second double-double of the season led five Colgate players in double figures as the Raiders rolled over Yale, 87-75, in a non-conference game Monday night at Cotterell Court. Campolieta scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Raiders, who improve to 4-2, which is Colgate’s best start since the 1992-93 season. Howard Blue came off the bench to add 19 points while Mark Linebaugh scored 15 including 12 from the free throw line. Colgate point guard Dave Hardy added 12 including his 500th collegiate point. Martin Marek contributed 10 as Colgate shot 50% from the field on the night. Ime Archibong scored a game-high 23 points for the Bulldogs, who drop to 4-4 overall. Colgate led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but a late Yale run cut the lead to 44-41 going into the break. Colgate hit 15-of-18 free throws down the stretch in the second half, preventing a Yale comeback. Yale had taken its first lead since the three-minute mark of the first half when Archibong completed a three-point play, giving the Bulldogs a 47-46 advantage with 17:04 remaining in the game. The Raiders answered back, though, and Campolieta ran off eight straight points to push Colgate back into double digits.
