BUCKNELL SNAPS SIX-GAME LOSING STREAK WITH 71-60 UPSET WIN OVER COLGATE

                LEWISBURG, PA. – Four Bucknell players scored in double figures as the Bison snapped a six-game losing streak with a 71-60 upset win over Colgate Sunday in a Patriot League game at Davis Gymnasium.

                Brian Werner, Boakai Lalunga, and Bryan Bailey scored 13 points apiece for Bucknell, while Dan Blankenship added 11.  Bucknell is 11-14 overall and 3-8 in the league.

                Freshman guard Mark Linebaugh with 11 points and Pat Campolieta with 10 points and eight rebounds led Colgate.  Martin Marek and Tim Sullivan added nine each for the Red Raiders (12-13, 5-5).

                Bucknell jumped out to a 5-0 lead on five straight points by Blankenship, before Colgate came back to take a one-point lead, 10-9, with 14:23 remaining on Sullivan’s jumper.  The Bison responded with a 9-1 run to open a seven-point advantage with 9:45 left.  Werner’s five points rallied Bucknell into the lead.

                The Red Raiders came back to tie the contest 20-20 led by Marek with seven points off the bench.  After Bucknell went back in front on Werner’s free throw, Colgate scored six straight points to open a 26-20 advantage.  The Red Raiders led at intermission, 33-31.

                In the second half, the lead seesawed back-and-forth with score tied for the fifth time 48-48 with 8:43 remaining.  Bucknell broke the deadlock on Ben Slater’s jumper and never looked back as they moved out to a 12-point lead, 62-50, with 3:06 left.
