SULLIVAN LIFTS COLGATE OVER BUCKNELL WITH A CAREER-HIGH 24 POINTS

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Tim Sullivan’s 3-pointer with 15 seconds left lifted Colgate to a come-from-behind 63-62 win over Bucknell in a Patriot League game Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.

            Colgate (9-9 overall, 3-1 Patriot League) wins its third straight Patriot League game, while Bucknell is 10-9, 2-3.  The Red Raiders also snapped a four-game losing streak against the Bison.

            Sullivan, who was the only Colgate player in double figures, finished with a career-high 24 points and nine rebounds.  He was 8-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.  Dave Hardy added eight points and three assists and Pat Campolieta tallied seven points and six rebounds for the Red Raiders.

            Bucknell was paced by Boakai Lalugba with a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryan Bailey added 18 points, Brian Werner 13 and Dan Blankenship 12.

            The score was tied 58-58 with 2:38 remaining before Blankenship put Bucknell ahead with a pair of free throws.  Hardy knotted the score for the fifth time in the second half with a driving layup, 60-60, with 1:07 left.

            Werner again gave the Bison a two-point advantage with a layup with 36 seconds left before Sullivan came down hitting the game-winner from the top of the 3-point arc.

            Bucknell had one final shot in an attempt to win the game, but the ball fell short and Sullivan grabbed the rebound with one second left.
