SNAPS COLGATE'S FIVE-GAME HOME FLOOR WINNING STREAK

HAMILTON, N.Y. –
Jake Rohe scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead
Cornell to a 68-58 win over Colgate Wednesday night at
Cotterell Court. The
Big Red (3-8) snapped a five-game losing streak, while Colgate
(6-7) lost for the first time on its home floor in six outings
this season.
Ka’Ron Barnes and Greg
Barratt were also in double figures for Cornell with 13 and 11
points respectively. Barratt
finished with a double-double as he hauled down a game-high 10
rebounds.
Pat Campolieta, who paced
Colgate with 15 points, became the 21st player in
school history to reach 1,000 career points. Other Red Raiders in double digits were Tim Sullivan with 12
and Howard Blue and Dave Hardy with 11 apiece.
The game seesawed
back-and-forth in the early stages until Cornell broke a 19-19
tie with an 8-1 run for a 27-20 lead with 3:05 left in the
half. The Big Red
extended their advantage to eight points before settling for a
six-point lead at intermission, 32-26.
In the second half,
Cornell jumped out to a 10-point lead with 12:59 remaining,
before Colgate cut the deficit to one point, 48-47, with 8:37
left. The Big Red
responded with a 7-2 run to put the game away.
Cornell held a big advantage on the
boards outrebounding the Red Raiders, 40-28, paced by
Barratt’s 10 rebounds and Barnes’ seven caroms. Sullivan led Colgate on the boards with a career-high eight
rebounds.
