BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Junior Pat Campolieta scored a season-high 24 points and added 12 rebounds to lead Colgate to a 75-68 win over Long Island University Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center.

The Red Raiders (6-4) pickup their fifth win in the last six games and first road victory of the season.  This is Colgate’s best start since the 1992-93 season.  Long Island (2-7) drop its fifth straight game.

Also in double figures for Colgate was Tim Sullivan with 15 points and Mark Linebaugh with 12.  Long Island was paced by Maurice Yearwood with 19 points.

Colgate fell behind by as many as 11 points in the first half, before fighting back for a 35-32 halftime lead.  In the second half, the Red Raiders were leading 47-45 with 10:58 remaining before going on a 12-2 run led by Campolieta’s six points as they extended their advantage to 12 points.  Long Island managed to cut the deficit to three points, 69-66, with 1:38 left but a basket by Linebaugh and Howard Blue’s dunk iced the game.

Bill Kern had a solid game for the Red Raiders off the bench handling the ball with a career-high six assists, and Blue added three blocked shots.

Colgate is back in action on Dec. 29, when it plays The Citadel in the opening round of the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee, Florida.
