COLGATE DEFEATS HARVARD IN MEN’S BASKETBALL 88-79

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Dave Hardy paced five Colgate players in double figures with a career-high 21 points to lead the Red Raiders to an 88-79 non-conference win over Harvard Saturday afternoon at Cotterell Court.

Colgate evens its record at 4-4, while Harvard is 3-3.

Hardy made 16-of-19 from the charity stripe as Colgate defeated Harvard for the third straight time and 10th time in 13 meetings.

Also in double figures for Colgate was Tim Sullivan with a career-high 18 points, Howard Blue with 13, Mark Linebaugh with 12 and Pat Campolieta with 11.

Harvard was paced by Dan Clemente with 29 points and nine rebounds, and Elliott Prasse-Freeman with 12 points.  Clemente hit four 3-pointers to become Harvard’s all-time leader from behind the arc with 168 3-pointers in his career . 

With the score tied 27-27 in the first half, Colgate went on a 19-5 run to lead at halftime, 46-32.  In the second half, the Crimson battled back to tie the contest at 66-66 with 4:04 left but two free throws by Hardy put the Red Raiders back in front for good with 4:01 remaining.  He made 13-of-16 free throws down the stretch.

Sullivan and Blue each had a career-high eight rebounds for Colgate, while Campolieta grabbed five.  Harvard outrebounded the Red Raiders 38-33.
