COLGATE HAS TWO-GAME WINNING STREAK STOPPED BY YALE, 56-41

NEW HAVEN, CT. – Chris Leanza scored 18 points and Neil Yanke added 10 to lead Yale to a 56-41 win over Colgate Monday night at Payne Whitney Gymnasium.

With the victory, Yale (2-4) snapped Colgate's two-game winning streak and defeated the Red Raiders for the first time since the 1991-92 season.  Colgate (3-4) remains winless on the road in four outings.

The game featured poor shooting on both ends of the court.  Colgate shot just 25 percent, hitting only 13 shots all night.  Yale shot just 35 percent, 21 percent in the first half.  Both teams combined for 3-of-29 from 3-point range.

Colgate held a 9-3 lead with 13:04 left in the first half before Yale scored the final five points in the half  for a 23-18 halftime advantage.  After intermission, the Red Raiders were able to tie the game at 29-29 with 12:07 remaining but Yale ran off six straight points to take the lead for good.  The closest Colgate came was three points with 9:40 left. 

Colgate was paced by Pat Campolieta, who was in foul trouble throughout the contest, with 14 points and Tim Sullivan and Bill Kern with seven apiece.  Howard Blue was the leading rebounder for the Red Raiders with seven as they outrebounded Yale 42-41.
