GENSON NAMED ASSISTANT
FOOTBALL COACH HAMILTON, N.Y. - Jon Genson has been named an assistant football coach at Colgate University. He will be responsible for the running backs in Colgate’s offense. Genson, 24, comes from Amherst College where he coached one season, during which the Lord Jeffs finished 7-1 with his running backs averaging 204.4 rushing yards per game. He began his coaching career at Division I-AA power Hofstra University where he served as a defensive graduate assistant and assistant recruiting coordinator. He helped the Pride to a Lambert Cup Championship in 1999 and consecutive trips to the second round of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. Genson is a 1999 graduate of Indiana University where he received his degree in sports marketing. The Long Island native, spent four years as football manager at Indiana. He earned his master’s degree in physical education from Hofstra in 2001.
