POLK AND SEAN McCUNE
WIN WEEKLY PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL HONORS
September 23, 2002 BETHLEHEM, PA – Colgate University senior running back Justin Polk (Grand Prairie, TX) and junior strong safety Sean McCune (Hookstown, PA) have been named Patriot League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week respectively for their performances in the Raiders’ come-from-behind 30-26 win over Dartmouth on Saturday. Polk, who moved from his starting fullback to tailback when starter Nate Thomas was injured late in the third quarter, carried 13 times in the last quarter for 167 yards and scored the game-winning TD with 3:09 left on a six-yard run. Polk entered the game with 171 career rushing yards. McCune is awarded his first PL award of his career after piling up a career-high 12 tackles (six solo), recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass with 2:47 left in the game that sealed Colgate’s first win of the season. He also had three pass deflections. |
