COLGATE LOSES TOP
RUNNING BACK FOR THE SEASON
September 22, 2002 HAMILTON, N.Y. - Senior tailback Nate Thomas suffered a fractured dislocation of the left ankle late in the third quarter of Colgate’s 30-26 win over Dartmouth Saturday at Andy Kerr Stadium. He had career-ending surgery on the ankle Sunday morning. Thomas, who was Colgate’s leading rusher, finishes his collegiate career in 19th place on the school’s all-time rushing list with 1,304 yards. The first team all-Patriot League performer had gained 62 yards on 17 carries against the Big Green before the injury. Last season, Thomas was Colgate’s leading rusher with 808 yards, and this season he had gained 210 yards on 51 carries and scored one touchdown.
