Schaffer Named Patriot League
Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 8, 2001 HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Colgate University senior defensive tackle Brian Schaffer (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves H.S.) has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Colgate’s 35-10 win over Princeton University. Schaffer, 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, was a huge factor in Colgate’s defense limiting Princeton to 175 yards of total offense - 63 rushing, 112 passing - while helping the Raiders win their 11th straight game against an Ivy League team. Schaffer finished with four tackles including a personal-high three quarterback sacks for minus 16 yards. In five games, he has totaled 14 tackles, including six for minus yardage, three quarterback sacks and one pass breakup. Colgate (3-2) has won three straight games. The Raiders have an open date this Saturday before returning to the gridiron on Oct. 20 at home against Towson University. |
