Field Hockey Falls to Lafayette, 5-0

EASTON, Pa. –
The Lafayette field hockey team ran its Patriot League record winning streak to 13 games with a 5-0 victory over conference foe Colgate Saturday afternoon.

Jennifer Stone got Lafayette on the board early in the opening session after working a text book give and go with Meredith Hahn in front of the Colgate net.

In contrast to the cold weather, the Leopards (13-2, 4-0) were on fire on the offensive end, peppering Colgate (4-9, 2-4) net minder Sarah Corcoran with 12 first half shots and 23 in the game.

Midway through the first half, senior co-captain Megan Monahan netted a goal off of a penalty corner feed from Hahn and Stone to give the Leopards a 2-0 advantage.

Early in the second half the trio hooked up again off of another corner making it 3-0, and minutes later Monahan added an unassisted goal for her third goal of the game, and second hat trick of the season all but putting away the Raiders.

Beth Gulotta added a late goal off a pass from Melissa Farrand to make it a 5-0 final.

Lafayette goaltender Casey Devlin made nine saves on the afternoon, including a sequence to remember when the junior made a diving stick save followed by a kick save to preserve her fourth shutout of the season, and third in four Patriot League contests.
