Field Hockey Loses Heartbreaker to American, 2-1
Raiders fall in overtime

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Colgate University field hockey team dropped a heartbreaker to Patriot League foe American, 2-1, in overtime on Saturday. With the loss, the Raiders drop to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the league.

American got on the board first as Kate Finn found the back of the net nine minutes into the second half when she unleashed a shot 12 yards out from the right side and tallied an unassisted score. 

The Raiders fought back courtesy of a goal by team leading-scorer Ashley Schneider (Linfield, Pa.), who pushed in a rebound on a corner at 63:31.
 

In overtime, American’s Magdalena Aguilar ripped a shot past Colgate keeper Sara Corcoran (Orange, Conn.) at the 77:31 mark.

Defending the net for Colgate, Corcoran had eight saves while American keeper Lindsay Carroll put in a 13-save effort.
 
The Raiders are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 as the travel to Albany. Game time is 3 p.m.
