HAMILTON, N.Y.  – The Colgate University field hockey team won its third straight game Saturday as the Raiders shut out Lehigh University 3-0 at Tyler's Field. 

Colgate (3-3, 2-1 Patriot League) is off to its best start since 1998 and has won three straight games for the first time since 1998 as well.

Colgate senior co-captain Devon Graham was called upon in the first half to attempt a penalty stroke eight minutes into the game and came through by lifting the ball into the top left portion of the goal for a 1-0 lead. 

In the second half, the Raiders kept pressure on the Lehigh (2-5, 0-1 PL) defense by putting 10 shots on goal.  Halfway through the second period, sophomore Ashley Schnieder gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead when she scored tipped in a Courtney Collins shot.  The Raiders scored again when freshman Sarah McCarthy redirected a shot by junior Sarah Howitt to close out the scoring 3-0. The goal was McCarthy's first collegiate goal.

Senior goalie Sara Corcoran (Orange, Conn.) had another solid game with nine saves and also recorded her first shutout of the season. Lehigh goalkeepers Jeanine Hoff and Meghan Gove both finished with six saves.

The Raiders host Holy Cross on September 28 at 11 a.m. on Tyler's Field.
