COLGATE'S SHANER NAMED PATRIOT LEAGUE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.  – Freshman Dana Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Hill School) of the Colgate University field hockey team was honored Monday by the Patriot League with Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts in the 2-1 overtime win against Fairfield Saturday.

With the score tied at 1-1, Shaner scored the game winning goal at the 71:28 mark when Colgate sophomore Kath Shelley (Grand Rapids, Ohio/Maumee Valley) brought the ball down the sideline avoiding a defender, then crossed a pass to Shaner who scored the goal in a scramble around the net.

The Raiders travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on Siena on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
