HAMILTON, NY  – The Colgate University field hockey team lost their third straight game to Stanford, 5-0 in their home opener at Tyler's Field.  The Cardinal out-shot the Raiders 33-8, and attempted 16 more penalty corners. 

The Raiders opened up the game with solid play from its defense, as they repeatedly turned away scoring opportunities from the Cardinal assault.  Goalie Sara Corcoran was poised in the net, allowing only one goal in the first half while recording 14 saves.

In the second half, the Cardinal proved to be too much for the Raiders to handle.  The Raiders had three penalty corners to try in the half, but could not convert on any of the attempts.  The defense could only do so much as the Cardinal scored four goals in the half, two on penalty corners, one on a penalty shot, and one unassisted goal. 

The Raiders now look ahead to Saturday as they host Fairfield at 1 p.m. on Tyler's Field.
