RAIDERS FALL TO MAINE, 3-1, IN FIELD
HOCKEY ACTION ORONO, Maine - Colgate freshman Kath Shelley (Grand Rapids, Ohio) netted her first collegiate goal to break a 3-0 shutout by the Maine field hockey team Sunday. Shelley's goal came with 21:12 left in the game, and it was assisted by senior co-captain Lauren DiCioccio (Wynnewood, Pa.). The Raiders, who posted only two shots in the entire game, gave up three goals to the host Black Bears. Junior Karli Bundy (Kennebunk, Maine) opened scoring with an unassisted tally, followed by a goal by sophomore Karyn Magno (Canton, Mass.) to put Maine up 2-0 at the half. Bundy scored her second goal of the game early in the second half off of a penalty corner, with assists credited to Kim Leo (Skowhegan, Maine) and Morgan Brady (New Milford, Conn.). Colgate goalie Sara Corcoran (Orange, Conn.) endured her second barrage of shots on the weekend, turning aside 13 in the loss, bringing her weekend total to 30. The Raiders open Patriot League play next weekend when they travel to Fairfield for an 11:00 a.m. game on Saturday. They will close out the weekend with a non-conference match-up against Rhode Island on Sunday.
