Ditzler and Monteith Named Athletic
Training Interns May 3, 2002 HAMILTON, N.Y. - Carrie Ditzler, a 2002 graduate of Shippensburg University, and Chuck Monteith, a 2002 graduate of State University of New York at Cortland, have recently been appointed Athletic Training Interns for the 2002-03 academic year by Colgate University Head Athletic Trainer Marty Erb. "We had a difficult decision, but we are very pleased to have Carrie and Chuck joining our staff for the upcoming academic year," said Erb. "Both interns will be an outstanding addition to our program and to their respective teams." Ditzler comes to Colgate after working as a student athletic trainer at her alma mater with numerous sports including football, men's and women's basketball, wrestling and men's and women's soccer. Ditzler, a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Association, graduated from Shippensburg with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Coaching. Ditzler also completed West Chester University's Summer Athletic Training Program in the summer of 2001. While at Shippensburg, Ditzler served as the treasurer of the Sports Medicine Club from 1998-2002 and worked as an assistant coach for the Conestoga Swim Team in Conestoga, Pa. While at Colgate, Ditzler will have athletic training responsibilities with men's soccer, women's basketball and women's lacrosse. Monteith, a Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society member, graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and is a National Athletic Trainers' Association member. While at SUNY Cortland, Monteith gained hands-on experience providing coverage to the men's baseball and women's basketball teams. Monteith also gained Division I-AA football experience completing an internship with as an athletic trainer with the football team at Cornell University. During his tenure at Colgate, Monteith's
primary athletic training responsibilities will be with field hockey,
men's basketball and non-traditional season sport coverage.
