ASSISTANT COACH
SYDNEY MOUNTFORD

Sydney Mountford has completed her second season at Colgate as an assistant men's and women's swimming coach. Mountford's primary responsibility is in training the middle-distance swimmers and coordinating recruiting efforts.

Last season, Mountford's swimmers turned in 89 personal-best performances, broke one varsity record, and established three freshman records. During her first season, her athletes broke six varsity records and four freshman records.

Mountford spent her summer as an assistant swim coach for the Lexington "Y" Dolphins in Lexington, Ky. As an assistant, Mountford was influential in the development of workouts, providing new and unique learning techniques for the swimmers and other coaches.

Mountford was a four-year standout swimmer for Western Kentucky University, serving as team captain during the 2001-02 season. She was also a participant in the 2000 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. The Lexington, Ky., native was an active volunteer for Western Kentucky community swim lessons and was named the 2001 Sun Belt Conference Swimmer of the Year.
