Head coach Scott Wiley enters his fourth season behind the bench
for the Colgate women's ice hockey team. Wiley had been
the assistant coach under Ted Wisner for the three seasons
prior.
Last season,
Wiley led the Raiders to their first Division I winning season
with a 16-15-4 record. The team finished 7th in the ECACHL
with a 9-7-4 record and made in their fourth consecutive ECACHL
quarterfinal appearance.
Wiley began
as head coach when the team was in just its second year as a
Division I program, in 2002-03. He guided his team to a
12-21-1 mark and was 4-11-1 in the ECAC-North that year.
The following year, the team improved leaps and bounds with a
16-17-3 showing. The team's improvement was recognized by
the ECAC coaches and Wiley was named the 2003-04 ECAC Coach of
the Year.
Wiley graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1993 with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Leisure Studies. He
served as team captain of the men's soccer team and was named
team MVP as well as first team Upstate Collegiate Athletic
Association and a regional Academic All-American in 1993.
The Williamstown, Mass. native has college soccer coaching
experience at Clarkson University and Plattsburgh State
University. At Clarkson, he planned and supervised
in-season and out-of-season practices. He also worked on
developing communication between the team, community and
university.
During the
summer of 2003, Wiley was a coach at the USA Under 18/19 hockey
festival. With an
extensive knowledge of marketing, Wiley serves as a valuable
member of the ECAC marketing committee. He also continues
to volunteer his time as an instructor at various women's hockey
summer camps throughout New York and New England, and served as
Colgate's assistant tennis coach in 2001-02.
Wiley and his
wife Leta, and their children Kaitlyn (13) and Devin (11), and
Taylor (1) reside
in Hamilton.
