Campolieta Leads Colgate
Over Army, 82-65
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior Pat Campolieta scored 23 points and equaled his career-high for rebounds with 17 to lead Colgate to an 82-65 Patriot League win over Army Wednesday night at Christl Arena. Campolieta’s sixth double-double of the season helped the Raiders to improve to 16-10 overall and 7-6 in the Patriot League with one game remaining. Army, which lost for the fifth straight time against the Raiders, is 11-15 overall and 5-8 in the league. With his 23 points, Campolieta moved into fourth place on Colgate’s all-time scoring list with 1,595 points and with his 17 rebounds he moved into 7th place with 683 career boards. Campolieta received plenty of support with sophomore Mark Linebaugh scoring 19 points, grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out five assists. Dave Hardy added 14 points and Howard Blue netted nine for the Raiders. Army was paced by Charles Woodruff with 18 points followed by Dax Pearson with 14 and Josh Wilson with 13. Colgate played some of its finest defense of the season holding three Army starters scoreless. The Patriot League’s leading scorer Chris Spatola didn’t score a point until he hit two free throws with 8:49 left in the game. Colgate opened the contest scoring seven straight points and never trailed the rest of the way. They lead by as many as 15 in the opening half before settling for a 40-32 halftime advantage. In the second half, the closest Army came was seven points, 45-38, with 17:20 left. |
