Bucknell Snaps Colgate's
Three-Game Win Streak With A 68-57 Decision Over The Raiders February 16, 2002 LEWISBURG, PA – Senior guard Bryan Bailey scored 24 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to lead Bucknell (11-14, 7-5) to a 68-57 win over Colgate Saturday afternoon in a Patriot League game at Davis Gym. Bucknell extended its winning streak over Colgate (15-10, 6-6) to four straight and has taken eight of the last nine in the series. The Raiders had a three-game winning streak snapped as they fell into fifth place in the Patriot League standings with two games left in the regular season. Colgate was led in the scoring column by sophomore Howard Blue, who tallied 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Mark Linebaugh added 15 points for the Raiders and Pat Campolieta finished with 10 points, six rebounds and six steals. Colgate held an early 6-2 lead on three baskets by Blue, before Bucknell went on a 10-2 run to take a 12-8 lead with 10:44 remaining in the first half. The Bison extended their advantage to five points on three occasions before settling for a 32-26 halftime lead provided by Chris Rodgers 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Raiders came out in the second half with a 12-3 run to take a 38-35 lead with 13:19 remaining. Bucknell, however, answered the challenge with 11 straight points to take the lead for good. Colgate trailed 48-43 with 8:40 remaining but two straight 3-pointers by Matt Quinn and Bailey sealed the victory for the Bison as they extended their advantage to 11 points. The closest the Raiders came was 60-53 with 3:14 left. GAME NOTES … Colgate struggled from 3-point range making only 2-of-20. They missed their first 11 attempts … Campolieta with six steals has moved to within two of Mike Boswell’s (1983-87) all-time record of 186. |
