COLGATE SUFFERS AN 84-59 SETBACK AGAINST TSK BAMBERG

August 17, 2001

GERMANY - The Colgate men's basketball team suffered an 84-59 loss to TSK Bamberg, a Division I German Professional League team in the third game of its six-game European Tour.

The Raiders (1-2) were originally scheduled to play Breitengussbach but a schedule change at the last minute created the TSK Bamberg matchup.  The assigned FIBA officials didn't show up for the game so the contest was officiated by a player and coach from the German team.  The game was highly physical.

Colgate trailed 21-16 at the end of the first 10-minute quarter and fell behind at the half by 13 points, 43-30.   The Raiders managed to get the game as close as nine points on several occasions but a 10-0 run late in the third quarter put the game out of reach.

The Raiders were led in scoring by Martin Marek and Pat Campolieta with nine points apiece, and Josh Humphrey with seven points.  Devin Tuohey chipped in with six points as Colgate made 8-of-15 three-pointers from the international distance of 20'6".

The Raiders resumed action in Switzerland on Saturday night, where they will play two games before heading to Paris on Monday.
