MEN'S BASKETBALL WINS FIRST
GAME ON EUROPEAN TOUR August 14, 2001 GERMANY - The Colgate men's basketball team opened its six-game European Tour with an 83-80 win over Rhondorf behind the 17-point effort of junior point guard Dave Hardy. Rhondorf was the champion of second division Bundeliga North. The Raiders withstood a late rally by Rhondorf, which missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer in an attempt to tie the game. The Raiders built an 18-point lead late in the third quarter but found themselves in a close contest with less than three minutes to play. Four Colgate players scored in double figures paced by Hardy, who had help from sophomore Mark Linebaugh with 14 and juniors Martin Marek and Tim Sullivan with 10 points apiece. Other Colgate scoring came from Pat Campolieta with eight points, Marques Green 6; LaMarr Datcher, Devin Tuohey and Peter Kyte 3; Jeremy Ballard, Chris Fox, Bill Kern and Matt Shirley 2; and Josh Humphrey 1.
