COLGATE ANNOUNCES 2001 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Six home games highlight the 2001 Colgate University football schedule released today. Besides its six Patriot League games, the Red Raiders will play two opponents from the Atlantic 10 Conference and three from the Ivy League.

Colgate will open its 2001 campaign Thursday, August 30 with a 7:00 p.m. road game against Villanova University. Following the Villanova contest, the Red Raiders will travel to Orono, Maine to face the Black Bears of the University of Maine on Sept. 8, before playing host to Dartmouth College in the home opener Saturday, Sept. 15.

The Dartmouth game will be the first of three straight home contests for the Red Raiders at Andy Kerr Stadium. After Dartmouth, Colgate plays host to Fordham University in the Patriot League opener on Sept. 22, followed by Upstate New York rival Cornell University on Sept. 29.

The final non-conference outing will come on Oct. 6, when Colgate travels to Princeton University. After an open date on Oct. 13, the Red Raiders play five straight Patriot League games to wrap up the 2001 slate. They will host Towson on Oct. 20, Lehigh Nov. 3 and Bucknell Nov. 17, while meeting Lafayette Oct. 27 on the road and Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. on Nov. 10.
