COLGATE ROLLS OVER PRINCETON 34-6

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Tom McCune passed for three touchdowns and ran for two to lead Colgate to a 34-6 win over Princeton Saturday at Andy Kerr Stadium. The victory was the fourth straight for the Red Raiders (4-1) who defeated an Ivy League team for the eighth straight time. Princeton is 1-3.

McCune connected on 16-of-27 passes for 218 yards and ran 11 times for 58 yards as Colgate rolled to 413 yards of total offense. Tailback Randall Joseph rushed for 127 yards on 22 carries to move into seventh place on Colgate's all-time rushing list with 2,593 yards. It was Joseph's 12th career 100-yard rushing performance.

Colgate took advantage of a fumble recovery by John Costantino on the Princeton 41-yard line to score its first touchdown with 50 seconds left in the first quarter. McCune, who has scored a rushing touchdown in five straight games, capped off the drive with a four-yard run. Russ Abrams' kicked the extra point.

Colgate scored three touchdowns in the second quarter for a 27-0 halftime lead. Joe Parker caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from McCune with 11:43 remaining to put the Red Raiders up 14-0. Parker finished with five catches for 76 yards.

Princeton fumbled the kickoff return, and McCune followed with a 26-yard touchdown run to increase Colgate's advantage to 21-0. With 56 seconds left in the half, McCune struck for his second TD pass when he connected with Ryan Ojeda on a 28-yard pass play in the corner of the end zone. Colgate missed the extra point.

Colgate closed out its scoring in the third period on a 15-yard pass from McCune to tight end Barry HoAire.

Princeton scored its only points on Marty Cheatham's one-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Kyle Brandt was the Tigers' leading rusher with 80 yards on 21 carries.
