TINSON RECEIVES PATRIOT LEAGUE AND NATIONAL HONORS

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate University senior cornerback Brandon Tinson has been named the Patriot League co-Defensive Player of the Week and The Sports Network co-Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Colgate's 30-27 overtime win against Towson.

Tinson, 5-foot-10, 181 pounds, tied a NCAA Division I-AA record by blocking three punts, each of which gave the Red Raiders the ball at midfield or in Towson territory and led to Colgate's three touchdowns. He tied the record set by Ben Duhon of McNeese State against Arkansas-Monticello in 1998.

He also contributed three tackles and broke up one pass as Colgate snapped Towson's eight-game home winning streak.

Tinson has four blocked kicks in his career. Last year, he blocked a field goal attempt in Colgate's 28-24 victory over Lehigh. The fifth-year senior came into the season with a team-high 11 interceptions. Last season, he was first team all-Patriot League.

In four games this season, he has 17 tackles (14 solo) and two pass break ups along with his three punt blocks.

The Red Raiders are 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League.
