camp. He was named first team preseason
All-America by The Sports Network. Everyone is
having a hard time blocking him.
Coach Dick Biddle had praise for his running
backs. As a group, they ran real hard in the

Three projected starters were on the sideline
for the afternoon session: cornerback Max
Wynn (Atlanta. GA), defensive tackle Duevorn

COLGATE FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK (8-18-00)

preparations Friday for its season opener at the
University of Connecticut on Sept. 9. The Red
Raiders went through their second day of
two-a-days. Coach Dick Biddle
was pleased with the morning session but somewhat
disappointed with the afternoon practice.
I thought the morning practice was
OK, said Biddle. But our effort in
the afternoon fell off. Some players are banged
up and a lot of them are sore.
Friday's practice saw three more starters join
tailback Randall Joseph on the
sideline. Joseph has been nursing a bruised leg
since Thursday morning's session. Today starting
fullback Tim Lavoie (Tewksbury
H.S./Tewksbury, MA) suffered a slight hamstring
pull and starting defensive tackle Alex
Houston (Bensalem H.S./Trevose, PA)
missed the afternoon practice with a concussion.
The most serious injury came in the afternoon
practice when senior wide receiver Jason
Mattes (Venice Senior
H.S./Venice, FL) suffered a separated shoulder
after making a nice catch deep down the middle.
His status will be determined later after he is
examined.
The team will practice twice on Saturday (8:30
a.m. and 3:15 p.m.) before its first day of
contact drills on Sunday afternoon (2:30 p.m.).

for fall camp ... Head coach Dick Biddle
has announced that Bill Dudley

of the 2000 season. Dudley replaces Ben Burton
will resigned just before the start of fall camp.
Dudley coached with the Red Raiders last fall and
